Ángel Calvente

Ángel Calvente (born 1956, Andújar, Jaén) is a Spanish sculptor and painter based in the Principality of Andorra.

He began his artistic education in Andorra and continued his studies in Barcelona and Granada, specializing in drawing, sculpture, and mixed media. Calvente is a co-founder of the Andorran Artists Association La Xarranca and has served on juries of national and international art organizations.

Over the course of his career, he has created numerous monumental public sculptures across Andorra and internationally, including large-scale bronze works in Changchun, China. His practice also includes murals, architectural decoration, bas-reliefs, and figurative painting.

Calvente has held more than 30 solo exhibitions and received multiple national and international awards. His works are held in private collections in Europe, North and South America, and Asia.

Deeply influenced by the anatomical studies of Leonardo da Vinci and the sculptural legacy of Michelangelo, Calvente’s work reflects a strong humanistic vision, exploring the human condition through material, gesture, and form.
